The UEFA Champions League
(abbreviated as UCL) is an annual club football competition organized by the
Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).It is one of the most
prestigious tournaments in the world, played by the national league champions.Introduced
in 1955 as the European Champion Clubs' Cup, more commonly known as the
European Cup
The 32 teams are divided into
eight groups of four teams and play each other in a double round-robin system.
The eight group winners and eight runners-up proceed to the knockout phase that
culminates with the final match. The winner of the Champions League qualifies
for the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup also.
The competition has been won by
22 clubs, 12 of which have won it more than once. Real Madrid is the most
successful club in the Champions Leagues’ history, having won the title 13(thirteen)
times, including its first five seasons.
Champions League Final Match
The
2019 UEFA Champions League Final will be the final match of the 2018–19 UEFA
Champions League, the 27th season since it was renamed from the European
Champion Clubs' Cup to the UEFA Champions League. It will be played at the
Wanda Metropolitano in Madrid, Spain on 1 June 2019.
